Social studies
We will be focusing our studies in this area on Mapping skills and landforms. Today the students looked at different types of maps, atlases,and globes for characteristics like legends, symbols and the compass rose. Below are listed some of the concepts that we will be covering in this unit.
1. major connections between features of the natural environment of a region and the type of land use and/or the type of community that is established in that region.
2. major connections between features of the natural environment and the type of employment that is available in a region, with reference to two or more municipal regions.
3. Identifying the major landform regions in Ontario (e.g., the Canadian Shield, the Great Lakes–St. Lawrence Lowlands, the Hudson Bay Lowlands), and describe the major characteristics that make each distinct.

We will being completing a final project that will require shoe boxes. If you have any shoe boxes you would like to send in, it would be greatly appreciated.

We are now looking at different ways we can use our skills to help us understand what we are reading.
